Do I need home emergency cover in summer?

When you think of home emergencies, winter might be the first thing that springs to mind – frozen pipes, broken boilers and all that jazz. But here’s the thing: home emergencies don’t take a summer holiday.

In fact, summer comes with its own set of issues – think blocked outdoor drains, burst pipes from overuse, dodgy electrics when the fan’s been on full blast, or even roof damage after a sudden storm. If something goes wrong, it can still cause chaos, whether it’s 30°C outside or not.

One common misconception is that home emergency cover is only really useful when it’s cold. But the reality is that leaks, electrical issues and roof problems can happen at any time of year. And they need fixing fast – regardless of the temperature.

Summer is also the perfect time to check your boiler or heating system. Because you're not relying on it, there's no panic if something needs sorting. Engineers are less busy too, meaning faster appointments and more flexibility.

Home emergency cover includes protection for:

  • Burst or leaking pipes

  • Electrical failures

  • Blocked drains and toilets

  • Boiler breakdowns

  • Roof damage

So, whether you're jetting off or enjoying the garden, make sure you’ve got cover that works all year round. Emergencies don’t follow the calendar.
