Frequently Asked Questions
By supercharging your cover, you get all the benefits of our Essentials plan, plus we’ll cover you for breakdowns and repairs too (such as dripping taps). We’ll also give you a higher cover limit (unlimited a year), and a higher claims limit (up to £5,000 a claim).
Heavy rain washes debris, leaves, and dirt into your drains. This builds up quickly and blocks the flow, causing water to overflow or back up into your home.
When temperatures drop below freezing, water inside your pipes expands and creates pressure. This pressure causes cracks, or full bursts.
You can insulate pipes, keep your heating on at a lower level, and fix any draughts. But, if you do have a burst pipe, and you’ve included plumbing and drainage on your plan with us, we can help!
When you take out cover with us, you can choose the excess that suits you best. In general, the higher the excess you pick, the lower your monthly cost will be.
You can see the difference in price using the cover table above, and toggling between the three options.
The three options are £0, £60, and £95.
A quick heads-up - there’s an extra £60 excess to pay if:
you make a claim in the first 90 days of your cover
your boiler (if you choose to cover one) is over 10 years old
Yes, we can cover leaks, collapses or blockages of your water supply pipe. We’ll also cover damage to/failure of your plumbing and drainage system.
Yes - heavy downpours can overwhelm drains. We’ll help resolve blocked drains on your property that are causing damage or flooding.
We cover emergencies linked to blocked drains, burst pipes, or leaks. However, large-scale flooding of land is usually handled by your home insurance.
This varies from property to property, however as standard, this will be your responsibility. It is important you know that the insurance will only cover from the internal stopcock, and external mains water supply pipes (as long as they are inside the boundary of your home) to your external stopcock. The communication pipe and mains water will fall outside of this insurance, and are usually covered by your local authority.
You may find that your mains water supply pipe falls on some else's property. Where you share legal responsibility for this pipework with any third parties, we will only cover your proportion of the cost of any work.
To clarify who is responsible for your underground water supply, you can check the Ofwat website at https://www.ofwat.gov.uk/households/supply-and-standards/supply-pipes/.
We can offer water supply pipe cover as part of a plumbing and drainage home emergency package.

Non-emergencies would include repairing dripping taps, replacement of leaking pipes and thermostats/temperature timings.
This is only available with our 'Premium' home emergency insurance packages.
